What is The People's Artist?

A 2026 nationwide competition and fundraising campaign presented by Johnny Depp and managed by Colossal to support The Art of Elysium. It invites artists across North America to compete for $25,000, a feature in Artforum Magazine, and an exhibition in Los Angeles.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

Large scale pieces that you can feel in your soul. A mountain with deep textures and earthy tones is my favorite, but I also love to paint a bison and Native Americans. I have a real connection with this land, nature and the spirit I feel while I'm in it. I also like to up-cycle skis and snowboards after they have been well loved on the mountain! The ideas just keep coming tho... lots of new and different things in the works!

 

Where do you find inspiration?

Everywhere! Mostly in nature, I love the colors and textures it! I’m also inspired by things that tell a story or give me a certain feeling. Architecture, vintage clothing, old and unique things, landscape and wildlife! The human connection can also be very inspiring.

 

What would you do with $25,000?

I would put it back into creating more pieces of art. I have so many dreams & goals with this creative journey. Everyone has a story and their story shapes who they are inside their soul. When we share our stories it helps and inspires others. I've experienced this so much of this and I'm only in my 4th year of creating. Soulful human connection through art is my main goal here!!! This is just the beginning.
